Two quarter-note beats per bar, with a louder click on beat one. Tempo counts quarter notes, so at 120 you hear two clicks per second and a new bar every second. The clicks are spaced just as they are in 4/4 at 120; the downbeat comes round twice as often.
Try counting “one and two and” along with the click. Set Clicks per beat to 2 to hear the eighth notes, including the “and” between each pair of beats. Leave Swing at Straight for even spacing.
For a quieter exercise, return Clicks per beat to 1 and set beat two to silent. Keep counting through the gap and listen for whether your next “one” lands with the click. The beat buttons let you restore the second click or change either beat's accent.
