6/8 metronome

Six eighth notes per bar, usually organized as two dotted-quarter beats. Tempo on this page counts eighth notes, so ♪ = 240 corresponds to dotted quarter = 80.

Choose “3+3, in two” from Grouping to accent clicks one and four. Count “one, two, three; one, two, three” with the eighths, or “one-and-a, two-and-a” with the two larger beats. The clicks between the accents stay audible.

For just the two larger beats, leave Clicks per beat at 1 and set beats two, three, five and six to silent. Restore them when you want to check the subdivisions again.

Try “2+2+2, in three” to accent the same six eighths in pairs. Listen to how the accents change the feel while the eighth-note spacing and bar length stay the same.
