60 BPM metronome
Keys: Space start/stop · T tap · ↑↓ tempo ±1, Shift ±5 · ←→ between beats, Enter to cycle
At 60 BPM in 4/4, each quarter-note beat lasts one second and each bar lasts four seconds. The first beat is accented so you can hear where the bar begins.
Try a short passage with Clicks per beat at 2 and Swing at Straight. The eighth-note clicks fall half a second apart. Set Clicks per beat to 4 for sixteenths, a quarter of a second apart, if you need help placing notes between the eighths.
Once the passage is steady, return to one click per beat and keep the same rhythm. For a further timing exercise, silence beat four and check that your next beat one still lands with the click. Sixty is just a starting point: lower Tempo if you need more time, or raise it when you are ready.
