Shuffle metronome

This page opens in 4/4 at ♩ = 120 with two clicks per beat and Swing set to Shuffle. Here, that setting places the offbeat three quarters of the way through the beat: the spacing of a dotted eighth followed by a sixteenth note.

For a triplet-based blues shuffle, try the Triplet setting instead. It puts the offbeat earlier, about two thirds of the way through the beat. Shuffle rhythms are commonly taught using triplets, so the label on this control should not be taken as a definition of every shuffle feel.

Play the same short phrase with each setting and listen to the difference. Keep Clicks per beat at 2 to use Swing. For all three evenly spaced triplet positions, switch Clicks per beat to 3.
